An Introduction to the Poetry of Elizabeth Bishop with John McCullough
Saturday, September 28 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Since her death in 1979, Elizabeth Bishop’s reputation has grown to the point where she is now widely regarded as one of the great 20th century American poets.
The manner in which the speakers in her poems view landscapes, seascapes and animals offers the reader exciting imagery, revealing much about the observer themselves. In this small group session John will discuss some of her best-known poems: 'At the Fishhouses', 'Crusoe in England', 'The Bight', 'Electrical Storm', 'The Armadillo', 'Song for the Rainy Season' and 'The Shampoo'.
John McCullough is a published poet, lecturer in Poetry at Sussex University and creative writing tutor. www.johnmccullough.co.uk
