Excavating Family Secrets: Gareth Brookes and S.V. Berlin
5:00 PM, Ropetackle Arts Centre
Ticket Cost: £6

Two exciting new writers explore the influences and inspirations of their very different books:

Gareth Brookes’ A Thousand Coloured Castles realises the
suburban dreams and nightmares of a retired couple in an extraordinary graphic novel about marital deafness, physical
degeneration and strange goings-on next door. Crayoned delusion meets banal reality with wit and empathy.

S.V. Berlin’s The Favourite is a novel set in a small coastal
town, rich with insightful and wickedly comic observations of
family members behaving badly in stressful situations – sibling
rivalries, a parent torn between the two, and a grieving process that takes time to unfold.
